A Splash of Blue

Color has the power to turn an ordinary photograph into an unforgettable one.

When people first look at a photograph, they usually notice the subject. What keeps them looking is often the color. Color creates emotion, sets the mood, and gives an image its personality. It can make a scene feel energetic, peaceful, nostalgic, or even mysterious before a single word is spoken.

This photograph caught my attention because of one thing: the blue. Walking through Miami, I noticed this beautiful Porsche parked along the street. It wasn't just the car itself that stood out. It was the way the deep blue paint reflected the sky, the buildings, and the city around it. Against the neutral tones of the sidewalk and the surrounding architecture, the color almost seemed to glow.

I smiled to myself because almost everyone walking by reacted the same way. Some slowed down to admire it, others stopped for photos, and a few casually pretended they were checking their phones while secretly trying to get the perfect angle. I guess I wasn't the only one who couldn't resist.

One of my favorite things about color photography is how a single color can guide the viewer's eyes. In this image, the blue immediately becomes the focal point. Everything else naturally fades into the background, allowing the photograph to feel clean and balanced without trying too hard.

Miami is a city full of color. From the murals of Wynwood to the ocean, the sunsets, and even the cars parked along its streets, the city feels alive because of its vibrant palette. It reminded me that photography is not only about finding interesting subjects. It is also about recognizing how colors interact with light and with one another to create something memorable.

Whenever I look back at this image, I remember more than a beautiful car. I remember a city that celebrates color at every corner and how one bold shade of blue was enough to make me stop, pick up my camera, and appreciate a moment that many people would have simply walked past. Sometimes, the color is the story.
